Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the open circuit voltage and to reduce the difference from the rated voltage by reducing-treating previously with hydrazine the particle surface of manganese dioxide and carbon which are to constitute the positive compound. CONSTITUTION:A generating element 2 comprising a positive electrode 2a, separator 2b impregnated with non-aqueous electrolyte, and negative electrode 2c of lithium is contained in a case 1 which comprises a positive container 1a, negative container 1b, and gasket 1c. A mixture of electrolytic manganese dioxide and acethylene black is used as positive compound of the positive electrode 2a, which manganese dioxide is previously reducing-treated with hydrazine equivalent to the number of monolayered molecules on the surface of the manganese dioxide particles calculated from the surface area of the manganese dioxide. Thus the difference between the open circuit voltage and rated voltage is reduced and a constant-voltage circuit in appliances such as electronic wrist watches can be eliminated.
