Abstract
PURPOSE:To increase the basic performance of a color cathode-ray tube, and reduce the cost of the tube by using Y2O2S:Eu phosphor containing a given amount of Eu used as an activator as a red-color emitting phosphor element for the fluorescent screen of a face plate glass containing an appropriate amount of Nd2O3. CONSTITUTION:A face plate glass 1 contains an appropriate amount of Nd2O3 so that its spectral transmissivity curve corresponds to that of glass containing 0.3-1.5wt% of Nd2O3, when its thickness is 10mm.. Then, a fluorescent screen consisting of a trichromatic phosphor element group 2 (red R, green G and blue B) is provided on the inner wall of the glass 1. Here, as the red-color emitting phosphor element of the fluorescent screen, Y2O2S:Eu phosphor consisting of Y2O2S and Eu used as an activator in a ratio of 1mol to 0.04-0.08g-atomic weight is used. By the means mentioned above, red-colored emissions with a color tone more than the equivalent to the conventional one can be obtained by using a decreased amount of expensive Eu.
