Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve contrast without losing brightness by using a phosphor which has the lumious characteristics of line spectra and forming a face glass using a material with wave selectivity. CONSTITUTION:By using the phosphor materials which have line spectra shown in the figure, such as Gd2O2S:Tb (for green) and Y2O2S:Eu (for red) in a phosphor, a face glass has advantageous selective wavelength absorption characteristics while eliminating the need for making its spectral transmission factor flat over visible regions. For example, as the face glass materials, the glass containing rare earths oxides, such as Nd2O3 and Pr2O3 which show the optical absorption characteristics in the wavelength regions near 470-480nm, 510-530nm, and 570-580nm is used. As a result, a large contrast can be obtained since this optical absorption band exists.
