Abstract
PURPOSE:To detect the position of object to be measured accurately in a wide range by arranging a light receiving element train for a reference light flux and a matrix-like element for receiving a comparison light flux. CONSTITUTION:Light fluxes are respectively focused on a light receiving element 12 comprising five light receiving elements A-E to receive a reference light flux on a belt-shaped reference optical axis 20 in the specified direction on a light receiving member 13 comprising elements arranged in a matrix of 5X5 to receive a comparison light flux 30 passing in a range from a distant position 21 to a close position 25 on the optical axis through lenses 14 and 15. Output currents from the row 0 of elements A-E of the light receiving member 12 and the rows 1-5 of the light receiving elements A-E of the light receiving member 13 are compared separately with comparator circuits 41-45 and the distance corresponding to the combination of the least difference is calculated with a distance converter 46 and displayed on an indicator 47. This enables the detection of object to be measured accurately in a wide range.
