Abstract

PURPOSE: To measure a distance under good control, by providing two light receivers, each of which has two wedge-shaped light reception elements which are so juxtaposed that their vertexes and their bottoms adjoin each other and by securing one light receiver against an object to be measured and installing the other movably.
CONSTITUTION: In each light receiver, a lens 7 and light reception elements which have wedge-shaped light reception faces 5, 6 connected to electrodes 3, 4 and located on a base board 2 connected to an electrode 1 are attached to a cylinder 8. The first light receiver 11 is installed at a point E with a distance R from a measured object D so that the optical axis of the receiver is coincident with the direction of the distance R. The second light receiver 12 is installed at a point H with reference line distance L from the point E. The reference line distance is perpendicular to the distance R. The second light receiver can be revolved on a plane defined by the straight lines R, L. The sum of the output differences between the corresponding electrodes 4, 4' and 3, 3' of the light receivers 11, 12 is determined by a signal adder-subtracter, When the coincidence of the sum with an allowable value is detected by a comparator, the distance R is determined by the azimuth angle θO of the light receiver 12 and the distance L. The distance R is thereby measured under good control.
