Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the extent of cross feed in case of reproducing, to a level allowable for practical use, by providing a notched part for reducing the cross feed, on the rear side of a center core. CONSTITUTION:A dual gap magnetic head is constituted of a recording core 1a, a reproducing core 1b and a center core 1c, and has a recording gap 2a, a reproducing gap 2b, a recording coil 3a and a reproducing coil 3b. On the center core 1c, a notched part 4A is provided from the rear side, and a packing material 5A consisting of a non-magnetic material is embedded in said notched part in order to reinforce the head. The extent of cross feed can be reduced to a level allowable for practical use by providing the notched part from the rear side of the center core. Also, since the notch part is provided on the rear side, it is possible to select a packing material generated in a structure provided on the front side, and to solve various problems on running of a tape.
