Abstract

PURPOSE:To decrease asymmetry and to facilitate the manufacture by using a back core in common to both a recording/reproducing core and an erasure core in a composite magnetic head shielding both the cores by a nonmagnetic material. CONSTITUTION:A recording/reproducing gap 13 is formed between a side core 12 and a center core 11 with a recording/reproducing coil 14 wound therein in the recording/reproducing core 10. The core 10 and the erasure core 20 of the similar constitution thereto are bonded via a shielding nonmagnetic substance 30 to form a composite magnetic head. Then a back bar 40 is used as a common back core to the cores 10, 20, and the asymmetry is decreased through the common use of the back core without provision of a bias magnetic field and the manufacture of the composite head is facilitated.
