Abstract
PURPOSE: To enable proper control of excess sludge, by computing the concentration of suspended solids from an inflow amount into an aeration tank, a returned sludge amount from a sedimentation pool to the aeration tank and a discharged excess sludge amount.
CONSTITUTION: An inflow amount QS into an aeration tank 1 is detected by a flow meter 2. Crude water aerated in the tank 1 is fed into a sedimentation pool 3, while active sludge in the sedimentation pool 3 is partially returned through a return pump 4 into the tank 1. Its excess part is discharged by a discharge pump 5, the concentration CR of the returned or discharged sludge is measured by a sludge densitometer 6, and the returned sludge amount QR and the discharged excess sludge amount QW are measured by flow meters 7 and 8, respectively. The detection signals QS, QR, QW of the flow meters 2, 7, 8 and the densitometer 6 are inputted to an excess sludge amount computer 9, while the measured concentration of inflow suspended solids is inputted when required to a computer 7 from detectors 10, 11.
