Abstract
PURPOSE: To form a uniform thin anticorrosive iron oxide film with high adhesion on the inside of a condensing pipe by blowing air into an acidic soln. contg. iron powder to oxidize the powder and to make it fine, coating the inside of the pipe with the soln., and drying the soln.
CONSTITUTION: To an acidic soln. such as about 0.1W2.0N hydrochloric acid is added about 100W5,000g/l iron powder. The grain size of the iron powder is <400mesh. Part of the powder is dissolved in the soln., yet most of it is suspended. About 1W50ml/min.cm3 wet air is then blown into the prepared acidic liq. for about 0.5W4hr at ordinary temp. or an elevated temp. By this preliminary oxidation the iron powder is acceleratedly made fine to enhance the uniformity of a film. The inside of a condensing pipe is coated with the acidic liq. and allowed to stand in air to form a thin anticorrosive iron oxide film with superior adhesion and uniformity in a short time. At this time, it is more effective to blow wet air.
