PURPOSE:To provide the title apparatus in which good one-side hot dipping with no scratch, etc. is carried out by setting a deflector roll to oxidize a side of a steel strip which side does not contact to the roll and preventing contact of the oxidized side to the surface of a pot roll. CONSTITUTION:Steel strip S is continuously reduced in reduction fornace 11, and it turns at oxide film-forming deflector roll 18 through deflector roll 17, passes through turndown roll 12 and snout 13, enters hot dipping metal bath 16, turns at pot roll 14, and leaves the bath toward the air. In the above processes, an oxide film is formed on one side (outer surface) of strip S which side does not contact to roll 18, with an oxidizing gas sprayed from oxidizing gas nozzle 15-1 within the contact range when strip S turns at roll 18. Accordingly, the oxidized side does not contact to the surface of roll 14 in bath 16, to be protected from scratching.
