Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent a bridge from being made between the thin iron sheets of core of an eletric machine in the cutting of the core, by causing the cutting route of the tool to differ between the roughing and finishing processes in the cutting so that burr made during the roughing processing is removed during the finishing process. CONSTITUTION:When the cylindrical surface 8 of the rotary core 1 of a rotary electric machine, which is made of thin iron sheets 5, is to be roughed, the core 1 is rotated around its axis 9 in the direction of an arrow 2 and a tool 10 is so positioned that the tool extends perpendicularly to the axis 9 and acts to cut the surface 8 upwards. The tool 10 is moved along the axis 9 in the direction of an arrow 11 to rough the cylindrical surface 8 of the core 1 on a route like a left-handed screw. To finish the cylindrical surface 8, the core 1 is rotated in the opposite direction and a finishing tool is so mounted as to cut the surface downwards. The finishing tool is moved in the same direction as in the roughing to cut the cylindrical surface 8 on a route like a right-handed screw. In the finishing, burr made during the roughing is removed to prevent production of a bridge between the thin iron sheets 5 to avoid the increase in the iron loss.
