Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance the reliability of the conductivity of a cathode-ray tube by interposing a conductive member, which has a thermal expansion coefficient below that of solder glass, between the joints of a panel and a funnel, and pressing the conductive films of the panel and the funnel by means of the difference between the thermal contractilities of the conductive member and the solder glass so as to make the panel and the funnel to conduct. CONSTITUTION:A panel glass 1, which is provided with a fluorescent surface 4 and a vapor deposited aluminum 5 used as a conductive film, and a funnel glass 2, the inner wall of which is coated with a conductive film 7, are joined with a solder glass 3 by interposing a metal 10 between parts of the conductive films 5 and 7 facing to one another. The thermal expansion coefficient of the metal 10 should be below that of the solder glass 3. Since the solder glass 3 contracts to a larger extent than the metal 10 during the process when they are cooled after being joined, the metal 10 is pressed by the conductive films 5 and 7 to make the glass 2 and the glass 1 to conduct electrically. As a result, the reliability of the conductivity is enhanced, and the work efficiency is increased.
