Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the safety of the gas burner in an emergency by a method wherein a closed type valve mechainsm is provided in a gas passage in such a manner that the mechanism is held by a vlave open condition holding mechanism and the release of the above metioned valve open condition holding mechanism is made by the output of a gas leak detecting means and that of an earthquake detecting means. CONSTITUTION:When, for some reason or others, the flame on a gas burner is put off during the combustin of the gas burner so that the gas leaks, a sensor 60 of the gas leak detecting means 4 detects it and when the density of the leaking gas goes higher than a predetermined value, a relay Ry is energized by a comparator A1 so that contacts r1 and r2 are closed. Thus, as soon as an alarm circuit 63 is operated due to the colsing of the contact r1 over a period of more than a predetermined time, a solenoid 50 of an electromagnetic mechanism 3 is energized and a lever 40 is pulled by a plunger 51 whereupon a lever 32 is unlocked and a valve 17 is closed by a spring 18 to thereby intercept the flow of the gas. On the other hand, when an earthquake happens, a semispherical member 68 swings like a pendulum to push the lever 40 so that the valve 17 is closed.
