Abstract

PURPOSE: To facilitate a chromate treatment as a post treatment by forming plating films of a tin-zinc alloy to two layers of different component compositions on the surface of an object to be plated, and forming the upper layer film zinc rich.
CONSTITUTION: The 1st plating film 1A is formed on the surface of an object to be plated at an ordinary bath temp., for example, about 25W30°C, by setting current density at about 4A/dm2. In this case, the ratio between the tin 1a and zinc 1b of the film 1A is about 7:3. Following to this, the current density is set about 8A/dm2 and the 2nd plating film 1B is formed, so that the ratio between the tin 1a and the zinc 1b is set at about 1:1. When a chromate film 2 is formed on the plating film 1 formed in this way, the surface layer part of the film 1 contains much zinc 1b and therefore the film 2 is easily chemically converted onto the film 1 and is firmly formed, whereby the corrosion resistance of the film 2 is improved considerably.
