Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a coated article having improved film properties and corrosion resistance, by electrodepositing specific cation type coating powder on a substrate, and by recoating an uncoated part of the substrate after film formation.
CONSTITUTION: A substrate is first coated with a cation type electrodeposition coating powder containing conductive powder such as carbon and capable of forming a film whose volume specific resistance is 107W1013 Ω.cm at 20°C and 20V, preferably 108W1012Ω.cm, by electrodeposition. An uncoated part of the substrate is then recoated by the same method with an electrodeposition coating compound (a cation or an anion type) having a redissolving ratio of the electrodeposition film not more than about 15 wt%, preferably not more than 10 wt.% when a substrate immediately after electrodeposition is immersed in an electrodeposit bath for ten minutes at 30°C.
