PURPOSE:To reduce size and losses with simple construction by combining (1Xn) photoswitches consisting of movable fiber bundles with ferromagnetic films thereby forming an (nXn) photoswitch matrix. CONSTITUTION:A movable input fiber row 1 with ferromagnetic films 2, 4 and output fiber rows 3 are disposed within the horizontal and vertical planes in holding parts 7, 8, and optical fiber bundles 5 with magnetic films for coupling are disposed at the intermediate thereof. The input fiber 1-i opposes to the i-th row of the fiber bundles 5, and is made couplable to four pieces of the i-th row of the bundles 5 by the movement of a movable end 9-i. The fiber 3-j opposes to the j-th line of the bundle 5 and is made couplable to four pieces of the fibers of the j-th line of the bundles 5 by the movement of a movable end 10-j. The coupling of the input and output fibers 1-i and 3-j is obtained by moving input and output fiber driving parts 11i and 12j. This holds of all the combinations of (i), (j). Thereby, the photoswitch matrix of a small size and low losses with the simple construction is obtained.
