PURPOSE:To obtain excellent imaging performance over a wide range from infinite distance to short distance by reducing aberration variation by using lens groups which meet prescribed requirements. CONSTITUTION:A macro lens consisting of six elements in five groups meets prescribed requirements. Namely, inequalities (1)-(8) hold, where (f) is the composite focal length of the whole system, and (f1)-(f3) are the composite focal lengths of the 1st-3rd groups of lenses; (di) is the interval of the (i)th lens surface from an object side, and (ri) is the radius of curvature of the (i)th lens surface from the object side; and (ni) is the (d)-ray refractive index of the (i)th vitreous material from the object side, and (nui) is the Abbe number of said vitreous material.
