Abstract

1,224,446. Optical glass. NIPPON SHEET GLASS CO. Ltd. 12 May, 1969 [13 May, 1968], No. 24185/69. Heading C1M. An optical glass consists essentially of, in weight per cent, 35-75 PbO; 21-31 SiO 2 ; and 3-41 Tl 2 O. The glass has a refractive index of at least 1À75. The glass may be used as the core in an optical fibre, the core being coated with a glass of lower refractive index, preferably at least 0.25 lower.
