Abstract
1302526 Optical glass PILKINGTON BROS Ltd 19 Feb 1970 [25 March 1969] 15590/69 Heading C1M An optical glass composition consists of, in weight per cent, SiO 2 0-20; B 2 O 3 8-30; GeO 2 0-15; La 2 O 3 15-30; ZrO 2 0-10; Ta 2 O 5 up to 25; Nb 2 O 5 up to 25, the total of Ta 2 O 5 and Nb 2 O 5 not exceeding 25; TiO 2 0-5; BaO (part of which may be replaced by CaO) 5-25; and Al 2 O 3 0-5; the total of SiO 2 , B 2 O 3 and GeO 2 being at least 20. The glass may be used as a core glass in an optical fibre, as a face-plate in a fibre optic device, in lenses and in mirrors.
