Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare the titled composition having improved crack resistance, without lowering the heat distortion temperature of the cured product, by compounding an epoxy resin with a specific polyether carbonate and an epoxy resin hardener.
CONSTITUTION: An epoxy resin having two or more epoxy groups in a molecule is mixed with 1W20wt% polyether carbonate of formulaI[R1 and R2 are (CH2)m (m is 2W4) or group of formula II or III; average molecular weight: 5,000W50,000], stirred for 1W3hr under heating at 80W150°C, and cooled to room temperature. The composition is mixed with an epoxy resin hardener (e.g. acid anhydride), if necessary defoamed, and cured by heating at 80W180°C for 1W 15hr. The amount of the epoxy resin hardener is pref. 0.6W1.2 equiv. per 1 equiv. of the epoxy resin group of the epoxy resin.
