PURPOSE:To prevent the flocculation of a developer near a supply opening part of a storage tank of a developing device in placing separately said opening part and an accepting opening part of a developing section proper by stopping a means of conveying the developer in the storage tank to the supply opening part surely with a good timing. CONSTITUTION:A developing section proper 2 is provided to an electrophotographic copier by projecting the opening part thereof for accepting a developer to the outside of a side plate 3 of the machine body. A storage tank for the developer and a driving source for a conveying means of the developer provided therein are secured to a supporting member 5 coupled to the machine body 3 by means of hinges 4 on the outside of the machine. While the tank 1 and the developing section proper 2 are in connection, the supplying opening part 7 of the tank 1 and the accepting opening part 11 of the body 2 are connected by the opening part 13 of a shutter 8; at the same time, a button switch 10 is depressed and therefore the conveying means is driven. When the tank 1 is separated from the body 2, the shutter 8 closes the opening part, and the switch 10 resets as well, thereby interrupting the conduction of electricity to the driving source.
