Abstract
PURPOSE:To decrease stuck splashes considerably and easily by affixing a weak combustible material to the required wall surface of a vessel for molten metal or the like. CONSTITUTION:Molten metal 4 is contained in a vessel 1 for molten metal and slag 5 is deposited on the surface thereof. Here, a shaped board or shapeless material of a weak combustible material 6 is affixed near the interface of the metal 4 and a vapor phase out of the inside wall surface, that is, refractory brick surface of the vessel 1. The splashes produced during stirring of the metal 4 or by the teeming of the molten metal stick to the material 6, and at the same time, they burn the surface of the material 6. Hence, the splashes drop promptly into the metal 4 or slag 5 without sticking on the material 6. Only the surface of the material 6 of the part stuck with the splashes burns and the original shape thereof is retained, thus its prevention effect is maintained for a long period of time. The material 6 consists of a mixture of vegetagle fibers, mineral fibers and high m.p. inorg. powder such as, for example a heat insulating material for risers of molds.
