Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the number of operators and also to improve yield in steel production, by imbedding temperature-measuring means at two upper and lower points in a furnace mouth part on the steel discharge side of a converter and by automatically controlling the inclination angle of the converter so that the surface level of molten steel in the converter is existing between the two positions where the temperature-measuring means are imbedded. CONSTITUTION:The temperature-measuring means 5a, 5b such as thermocouples are imbedded in refractories inside the furnace at two upper and lower points in the furnace mouth part 1a on the steel discharge side of the converter 1. By the temperature-measuring means 5a, 5b, the surface 3a of the molten steel 3 is detected and simultaneously the inclination angle theta of the converter 1 is automatically controlled so that the surface 3a is existent between the temperature-measuring means 5a, 5b. This elimnates the need for a sign maker for inclination and prevents the molten steel 3 from flowing out of the furnace mouth part 1a even in occurence of boiling of alloied iron thrown into the converter 1.
