Abstract

PURPOSE: To form a uniform film of powder on the inside surface of an annular glass bulb by spraying the powder applied with a electrostatic voltage in the bulb, and applying 3-phase AC to a conductor wound spirally on the outside circumference of the bulb.
CONSTITUTION: Phosphor powder of about 8μ average grain size is ejected from a spray gun 2 at about 20g/min ratio together with, for example, 0.1kg/cm2 compressed air, to the opening part at one end of a glass bulb 1 for annular tube bulbs. The outside circumference of the bulb 1 is wound spirally with conductor wires 6a, 6b and 6c molded in holders 7a and 7b. If, for example, 2KV 3-phase AC voltage is applied to the wires 6a, 6b and 6c, the max. voltage of the induction electric field formed by the conductor wires moves, thereby inducing and scattering the phosphor powder successively toward the other end of the bulb 1. The powder applied with about 60KV ⊖ electrostatic voltage by an electric power source 5 is attracted and stuck uniformly to the inside wall surface of the bulb 1 which is applied with ⊕.
