Abstract

PURPOSE: To make electrostatic coating easily by extending a grounded needle- like conductor from back side of an object to be coated to near its front side and liberating charge accumulated in the front side during coating, and thereby keeping potential of the coated face low.
CONSTITUTION: A needle-like conductor 15 extending from back side 11b toward front side 11a of an object 11 to be coated is inserted into the object 11, if necessary, it is grounded through a conductive jig 16 provided on back side 11b. The distance between the tip of the needle-like conductor 15 and front side 11a is made to within 1W2mm if the object 11 is made of resin. The number of needle-like conductor necessary per 1m2 is four to five. The paint sprayed by an electrostatic coating gun 13 is charged by an electrode 12 connected to an DC high voltage generator 14 and coated electrostatically on the object 11 to be coated. At this time, non-contact conduction is caused by dielectric breakdown between the needle-like contact conduction is caused by dielectric breakdown between the needle-like condutor 15 and the front side 11a of the object 11, and rise of potential of the front side 11a is suppressed.
