Abstract
PURPOSE: To produce a titled catalyst of superior activity and mechanical strength by kneading a carrier raw material consisting of fired and ground powder of metallic oxides, org. binders and inorg. binders then adding a catalyst component and kneading, molding, drying and firing the mixture.
CONSTITUTION: Fired and ground powder of metallic oxides of ≥1 kinds selected from titania, alumina, cordierite, silica, magnesia, zirconia is used as a carrier raw material. This carrier raw material and org. binders of ≥2 kinds selected from urea, polyethylene oxide, hydroxylmethylcellulose, polyallylalkyl sulfonic acid, and inorg. binders of ≥1 kinds selected from titanium sol, silica sol, boric acid, borate are mixed. After this mixture is kneaded, a catalyst component is added thereto and these are further kneaded. The resultant kneaded mixture is molded to a honeycomb shape, and this molding is dried and fired.
