Abstract
PURPOSE:To enhance NO2 nemovability in low temperature range by carrying at least one or either Pd and Pt or CeO2 and ZrO2 as the catalyst metal on a ceramic porous carrier. CONSTITUTION:A proper volume of a binding agent and water is added to powder constituted of mixture of alumina cement composed of Al2O3 and CaO, molten silica and TiO2, kneaded, pressurized in a honeycomb shape and molded, and then dried and turned into a porous carrier after the binding agent is removed at the temperature of approximately 500 deg.C. Pd, ZrO2 and Pt are carried on said carrier, calcined at 1,000 deg.C to prepare a catalyst. As Pt, one of catalyst metals, is highly active in the low temperature, NO2 removability in low temperature range at 300 deg.C-500 deg.C is enhanced by said process, while ZrO2 works as a promoter in the activity in the low temperature and catalytic activity in the low temperature is enhanced.
