Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a thin, strong, and highly active denitrification catalyst by the procedure in which a slurry of a sol, e.g., silica sol, and hydrated titania is baked to obtain a porous support material, and then the porous material is pulverized, adhered to a metal netting, and then added catalyst components.
CONSTITUTION: A slurry is prepared by using a sol selected from silica sol, alumina sol, and titania sol and hydrated titania. When the slurry is baked at 200W600°C for 1W5 hours or dried at 70W120°C for 0.5 to 2 hours, a three-dimensional structure of porous support material in which titania is embraced in dehydrated and coagulated sol is obtained. Then, the baked porous material pulverized, adhered to a metal netting with a binder such as alumina sol, etc., in a plate state, and then added catalyst components, e.g., vanadium, etc. The plate denitrification catalyst thus manufactured is thin, strong, and high in catalytic activity, as well as can be enlarged.
