Abstract
PURPOSE: To manufacture hydrocyanic acid with high selectivity by ammoxidizing methanol in the presence of catalyst obtd. by supporting an active component of a specific compsn., on silica, consisting of one or more out of K, Rb and Cs, Mo, Bi, Fe, Na and O.
CONSTITUTION: An active component of the formula, e.g. MoBi0.787Fe0.391 K0.04Na0.1 P0.1Oq is supported on 30W70, esp. 40W60 wt% silica. This catalyst is prepared as follows: water- or nitric acid-sol. salts of the component elements, e.g. NH4 salts, nitrates, hydrochlorides or sulfates are added to silica sol and uniformly dispersed to form a slurry. The slurry is spray dried by a known method, and the resulting spherical particles are calcined at 600W750°C. In the presence of this catalyst mehanol, NH3 and air as an O2 source are reacted at 350W500°C to manufacture hydrocyanic acid. The catalyst remarkably enhances hydrocyanic acid selectivity and has long-term stability and superior wear resistance.
