Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare the titled compound useful as a dye, etc, in high yield, by the ammoxidation of o-chlorotoluene (OCT) with a gas containing NH3 and O2 using a V-P catalyst added with Li.
CONSTITUTION: The titled compound is prepared by the ammoxidation of OCT with a gas containing NH3 and O2 using a catalyst having a composition of VaPbLic Od (a, b, c and d are number of V, P, Li and O stoms; a:b:c=1:(0.1W3):(0.01W 1.5); d is determined by the valences of the elements). The catalyst can be obtained e.g. by (1) adding a V compound and a P compound to water, (2) adding a Li compound to the mixture, (3) if necessary, adding a carrier thereto, (4) evaporating the mixture to dryness, and (5) calcining the mixture.
EFFECT: The control of the acid points and the base points on the catalyst and the prevention of the loss of P can be attained by the addition of Li.
