CONSTITUTION:Light of a lamp 13 lighted by a constant voltage supply 12 is projected to the surface of an object 15 to be measured through an optical fiber 14 and the reflected light is led to a light receiving element 17 through an optical fiber 16. The output thereof is compared with the reference value by means of a comparator 1 via an amplifier 18 to express the surface position of the object 15 by a relationship with the preset reference position and the results is displayed on an indicator 20. This enables contactless measurement of the position or the thickness of the object being measured.
