Abstract

PURPOSE:To stabilize the arc and improve the acuracy of welding in a welding torch using a welding wire as a consumable electrode by providing two pieces of freey turnable contact members to a torch body and providing an abrasion resistant guide block to the leading end. CONSTITUTION:Contact members 4, 5 mounted above and below are turned against the pressurizing means 6 of a torch body 1 and a consumable electrode 11 is inserted into the through-hole 301 of a guide block 3 through a guide tube 2. Next, the electrode 11 is grasped under pressure by the leading end parts 41, 51 of the members 4, 5, after which electricity is supplied to the members 4, 5, and welding is executed while a shielding gas is released from a gas supply means 8. Since the members 4, 5 are actuated by the means 6, the power supply to the electrode 11 is accomplished surely despite the abrasion of the parts 41, 51, and the electrode is fed to a corret position with the guide block 3, whereby the gas shielded arc welding of good accuracy is made possible in a stable arc state.
