Class 39(3) [Also in Group XXII] A gas shielded arc welding torch comprises an outer shell 35 comprising a barrel with a gas directing nozzle 40 at the front and a pistol grip handle at the rear where there is provided an access opening into the shell, an insert comprising an electrode holder tube 14 adapted to receive an electrode contactor 10, the tube sliding into the rear of the barrel, and carrying the contactor 10, to extend into the nozzle 40; the insert includes a gas passage 58, 57, 59, 60 and has supply conduits secured thereto and extending laterally therefrom for supplying shielding gas to the nozzle and current to the contacting means, the conduits being slidable into the pistol grip handle as the tube 14 slides into the barrel. The handle has a micro switch 50 and trigger 48 (which has a strain relief fitting) mounted within a switch housing 54. The nozzle and the shell are liquid cooled, and a consumable wire electrode extends along the axis of the barrel entering via flexible conduit 20. The current is supplied to the electrode by way of block 24, tubes 14, 12, and contact tube 10, there being provided suitable insulating members 15, 36, as shown.
