Abstract

PURPOSE: To make welding speed 3W4 times higher by providing a gunbarrel, a contact tip and an insulation guide leading the filler core wire mounted to the end of said contact tip to the end of a shielding nozzle, within the shielding nozzle.
CONSTITUTION: When a switch mounted to a welding torch is pushed, a filled core wire 5 is fed by driving rollers and a gas flows through a shielding gas spouting hole 4. Voltage is then applied between a gun barrel 3 and the base metals 7 to be welded from an electric power source 13. Since the gunbarrel and a contact tip 2 are generally made of copper, they become of electrically the same potential and the power supply to the filler core wire is accomplished from the contact tip of a small hole diameter 7. The filler core wire having passed through the contact tip is fed via an insulation guide 11 and a metal guide 12 and its leading end touches the base metals to be welded, when it is melt-cut by fuse action and an arc 6 is thus formed. The filler core wire becomes a globule 9 from its leading end, by which a bead 8 is formed and welding is accomplished.
