Abstract

PURPOSE: To make connecting speed 3W4 times higher by providing a gun barrel, a metal fitting for feeding electric power to a filler core wire, an insulation guide between this and a contact tip and a heating electric power source connecting both, to consumable electrode type gas shielded arc welding equipment.
CONSTITUTION: When the switch of a welding torch is pushed, a filler core wire 6 wound on a wire reel 11 is fed by drive rollers 9. A gas 5 flows from a shielding gas spouting port 4 and voltage is applied between a metal guide 14 and the base metals 7 to be welded from an electric power source 8. Since the metal guide and a contact tip 2 are made of steel, they become of electrically the same potential and electric power is supplied to the filler core wire from the contact tip. The filler core wire having passed through the contact tip short-circuits to the base metals to be welded and is melt-cut, thereby forming an arc. At the same time, a heating electric source 15 operates and goes to the filler metal wire through a power feed metal fitting 12 and the contact tip, thereby letting the wire evolve heat. In this way, the heated filler core wire is fed to the contact tip and the arc is thus generated. In this case, the welding current and the heating may be set independently because they are of separate circuits.
