Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the profile of plate sections and to improve flatness by intersecting the axial lines of rolls diagonally with respect to a perpendicular line in an upper stream side stand and constituting a downstream side with varia ble crown rolls. CONSTITUTION:In a continuous multiplex type rolling mill train, the axial lines of at least one of the work rolls 11 and backup rolls 12 of an upper stream side stand 1 are intersected diagonally with respect to the straight line perpendicular to a pass line. In a downstream stand 2, a variable crown roll is used for at least one of the intermediate rolls and backup rolls. Thereby, existing rolling installations are effectively utilized, the profiles of plate sections are improved and flatness is enhanced.
