Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a uniform red flame combustion condition by a method wherein in the case of the titled combustion apparatus provided with an outer cylinder having a red flame section outside an inner cylinder and a heat resistance glass cylinder outside the outer cylinder, the arrangement of a number of flame holes provided in the inner and the outer cylinders is properly elaborated.
CONSTITUTION: A gas injected from a gas nozzle 13 and introduced into a combustion chamber 14 from a gas injecting hole 2 via a gas supply pipe 1 flows upward as it is mixed with air at the lower portion of the chamber 14. Thus, when the gas mixed with the air flows up to the lowest rows of the groups of the flame holes 6a and 6b of the inner and the outer cylinder 3 and 4, it is ignited and the resultant flames from the flame holes spread over the entire region of the combustion chamber 14. Consequently, both of the cylinders 3 and 4 are heated by the flames and the combustion of the gas is accelerated by an increase in the quantity of air supplied through air holes 5a and 5b and also through the flame holes 6a and 6b due to natural convection so that infrared rays are radiated through the glass cylinder 12. In this case, the flame holes 6a in the inner cylinder 3 and the flame holes 6b in the outer cylinder 4 are formed in such a manner that the opening degree of each of the holes 6a in the upper portion of the inner cylinder 3 is made small and the diameter of each of the holes 6b in the upper and lower portions of the outer cylinder 4 is made larger in diameter than each of those in the intermediate portion of that cylinder.
