Abstract
PURPOSE:To ensure the stable contact pressure and to reduce the noise, by using a resistance band where the resistance value between a pair of sliding contacts varies periodically to obtain a constant touching contact for a contact type encoder. CONSTITUTION:A displacement detector 24 is made of an insulated plate, and a thin film resistor 28 having its resistance value varying in a sine waveform in accordance with the shifting direction CD is provided on a single surface of the detector 24. A pair of sliding contacts 30 and 32 are fixed to a displacement detector 26, and the tips of both contacts 30 and 32 are in contact with the resistance zone 28. The resistance value between the contacts 30 and 32 is detected by a detecting circuit 34.
