Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a wire-piping path with its refractive index distribution in the section adjusted by the amount of dope, by doping F around the high-purity quartz glass pipe with a high refractive index so that a SiO2 layer with a low refractive index is laminated to it. CONSTITUTION:The high-purity quartz glass rod 11 is put in the muffle 13, subjected to reciprocating motion in the axis direction, and rotated. SiF4, H2, and O2 are sent to the burner 12 to give an oxyhydrogen flame, with which the quartz glass rod 11 is brought into contact, so that SiO2 is produced, F is contained in it, to form a SiO2 layer with a low refractive index. This quartz glass rod is heated and melted in an oxygen atmosphere furnace, and spun to give a light-piping path.
