Abstract

CONSTITUTION: An X-axis guide surface 12 is provided in the X-axis direction orthogonal to the axis of a main spindle 3 on a head 1 of the lathe, and an X- axis slide 4 is placed on the guide surface 12 in such a manner as to be slidable in the X-axis direction and it is driven by a motor 5 through a ball screw 51 and a nut 41. On the X-axis slide 4, a Z-axis guide surface 40 is provided in the Z-axis direction parallel to the axis of the main spindle 3, a Z-axis slide 6 placed on the surface 40 so as to be slidable in the Z-axis direction is driven by a motor 7 through a ball screw 71 and a nut 61, and a tool rest 8 supporting a cutting tool 81 is fixed on the Z-axis slide 6.
