Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce the drunkenness of a screw generated in high-lead machining, by a method wherein a headstock is proided on a cross slide and a longitudinal feed part is reduced in weight.
CONSTITUTION: An X-axis guide surface 11 is provided in the X-axis direction orghogonal to the axis of a main spindle 3 on a head 1 of the lathe, and the headstock 2 is mounted on the guide surface 11 so as to be slidable in the X- axis direction and is driven by a motor 4 through a ball screw 41 and a nut 22. On the other hand, a Z-axis guide surface 13 is provided on the head 1 in the Z-axis direction parallel to the axis of the main spindle 3, a Z-axis slide 5 is mounted on the guide surface 13 so as to be slidable in the Z-axis direction and is driven by a motor 6 through a ball screw 61 and a nut 52, and a tool rest 7 supporting a cutting tool 71 is fixed on the Z-axis slide 5. Accordingly, since the mass of the Z-axis slide 5 moved at high speeds in the case of high-lead machining is small, the shock arising from the reciprocating motion is small and the drunkenness of screw will hardly occur.
