Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the leakage of working fluid, by providing a plurality of grooves on one of the tip of a moving vane and the inside surface of a casing to form a pressure dam. CONSTITUTION:Ribs 8 are protruded from the peripheral part of a shoud 2. Nmerous grooves 9, which extend obliquely to the direction (a) of revolution of moving vanes 1, are provided on the surface of the shroud 2 which faces a casing 7. The downstream end of each groove 9 is open but its upstream end is closed. Pumping action is caused at the grooves 9 by the revolution of the moving vanes 1 so that dynamic pressure is produced toward the high pressure side of a working fluid. Since the upstream end of each groove 9 is closed, a pressure dam is formed on the top of the rib 2. According to this constitution, the leakage of the working fluid is reduced to improve the turbine performance.
