Abstract

PURPOSE: To make an anode tolerable to long period use even in electrolysis at high current density by coating a surface of a conductive corrosion resistant matrix material with a first layer formed by electroplating Pt or Pt group metal, a second layer formed by coating and plating a Pt group metal or an alloy thereof and a third layer formed by electroplating Pt or a Pt group metal.
CONSTITUTION: As a matrix material, a conductive corrosion resistant matrix material such as titanium, a titanium alloy, zirconium, a zirconium alloy or the like is used. Said matrix material is pickled and, on a surface thereof, Pt or a Pt group metal is electroplated to form a first layer. Next, a solution prepared by dissolving a chloride of a Pt group metal or an alloy thereof in ethyl alcohol is dispersed in turpentine oil and the resulting dispersion is coated on the first layer and dried under reductive flame and decomposed by heating to form a second layer. Further, Pt or a Pt group metal is electroplated on the second layer to form a third layer.
