Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the contrast between a light transmitting part and a light cut-off part, by providing a nonreflective film to the interface which is in contact with an air layer and thus reducing the loss of light reflection on the interface. CONSTITUTION:A polarizing plate forms an interface of a liquid crystal cell, and a material obtained by mixing 7-55% magnesium fluoride into cryolite is added in 600-1,000Angstrom to obtain a material that is suited to the refractive index of the polarizing plate and easily turned into a film. The aging property is lowered in <=5% ratio of mixture, and the brightness is reduced in >=60% ratio of mixture, respectively. The nonreflective film is set to 400-500nm thickness to give the highest brightness to the naked eyes by increasig greatly the light transmissivity at the range of 400-500nm compared with other visible light wavelength range. It is also effective to form the nonreflective film on a plastic plate and then to stick it to a polarizing plate in addition to a method by which the nonreflective film is formed directively to the supporter of the polarizing plate.
