Abstract
PURPOSE: To make the water sealing of the joint portion of a cover glass perfect and prevent the deterioration of joint strength due to water at the joint part by heating the low melting point metal placed between the metal alloy layers previously formed on the cover glass, margin and drum of a timepiece.
CONSTITUTION: A 0.1W50μm gold alloy layer 5 is attached to the back face of a cover glass 1 by spattering method for example, a 0.1W50μm gold alloy layer 7 to a metallic drum 2 or margin by the same method. Next, the foil of the low-melting point such as Au-In and Au-Sn is set between the cover glass 1 and the drum 2 for erample by welding it or margin to the alloy layer of the layer 5 or 7. Thereafter, the cover glass 1 and drum 2 are heated. Thereby, the low-melting point metal and gold alloy are welded mutually to form a perfect joint part, which completely seals water and does not cause any strength deterioration due to water.
