Abstract

PURPOSE: To bond a cover glass to a wrist watch case airtightly by mutally hot- bonding the junctional interface between an inorganic cover glass and a metallic case by means of a high-power density processing method.
CONSTITUTION: An inorganic cover glass and a metal case for a wrist watch case are hot-bonded airtightly by a laser or electron beam processing method. For example, the annular heating film 3 is inserted into between the ringlike tiered portion 1a of the case body 1 and the periphery 2a of the inorganic glass 2, and then a laser beam is irradiated onto the annular heating film 3 to heat it, thereby the periphery 2a of the cover glass 2 and the ringlike tiered portion 1a of the body 1 are melted and bonded together airtightly. In this case, a black-colored heating element which almost refuges the permeation and reflection of laser light is provided at the metling portion of the inorganic glass, but not required in case where electron beam is used. Thus, a watch case having a high resistance which changes with time, a high moisture proofness, a high dust proofness, and a high water-proofness can be obtained.
