Abstract

PURPOSE: To analyze the concentration of a very small amount of hydrogen included in helium simply and accurately by measuring the concentration of steam obtained by oxidizing hydrogen included in helium gas.
CONSTITUTION: Sample helium gas which includes H2 is pumped into a cylindric reaction vessel 3 with a bottom from a pipe 4. An oxidizing substance such as CuO filled in the reaction vessel 3 is heated to an appropriate temperature via a temperature adjusting meter 1, and H2 gas in helium contacts and reacts with CuO, and almost the entire H2 is converted into steam in an equilibrated state. After the included hydrogen is converted into steam, the helium gas is sent to a dew point meter 6, which is a measuring device of steam concentration, and returned to the circulating system of helium gas via a pipe 7.
