PURPOSE:To directly measure oxygen percentage in coal accurately in a short time without requiring skill, by heating the organic oxygen in coal rapidly to obtain gaseous CO and by measuring the CO concentration directly. CONSTITUTION:Platinum boat 10 where a coal sample is weighed is charged into heating part 2 linked to charging tube 1, and heating part 2 is linked to electric reaction furnace 4 through flash heater part 3. Polyethylene glycol having approximately 400 molecular weight is charged in the double tube of heating part 2, and the outside of the jacket is coated with the tape heater and is controlled at 140 deg.C. Furnace 4 is linked to reaction tube 5 (900 deg.C) packed with Pt-C to reduce CO2 to CO. Sulfur components are eliminated in reaction furnace 6. The gas is led to tetrabag 9 through cleaning tower 7, it is collected into gas chromatographic apparatus 17 on the halfway by autosampler 16. The output caused by the heat conductivity accompanied with the change of the CO concentration is integrated by integrator 18 to obtain the CO concentration, namely, the oxygen concentration.
