Abstract

PURPOSE: To permit measurement of the accurate pumping rate by compensating the H-Q curve (gross pump head versus pump discharge curve) for changes due to long use.
CONSTITUTION: The discharge pressure Hx of a pump at the time of the start is coupled through a pressure differential gauge 6 to a comparator 10 for comparison with the initial discharge pressure H0 of pump 2. The resultant difference value (H0-Hx) is stored in a storage unit 11. An operational unit 12 reads out the content stored in the storage unit 11 and calculates a new H-Q curve (shown by the solid plot, the dashed plot being the initial curve) at the level reduced by an amount corresponding to the difference on the basis of the read-out content from the initial H-Q curve (gross pump head versus pump discharge curve). From this new H-Q curve the pump discharge Qa corresponding to the input gross head Ha is obtained. In this way, accurate measurement of the pump discharge can always be obtained from the H-Q curve of the pump 2 irrespective of the variation of the H-Q curve in long use.
