Abstract

PURPOSE: To detect the storage amount in a tank accurately with electrostatic capacitance value by taking out the electrostatic capacitance value of a sensor which senses the liquid level in the gap of double structured tubes as an AC voltage value with a specified relationship and utilizing the intrinsic dielectric constant of the fuel.
CONSTITUTION: The liquid level in the double structured tubes is sensed as the variation in electrostatic capacitance by using the intrinsic dielectric constant of the fuel. The sensor 1 is connected to a capacitance bridge 18 to which the AC voltage is applied from an oscillator 19. The output therefrom is amplified by amplifiers 19a and 20, rectified 21, and converted into a pulse signal by a V/F converter 22. The pulses are averaged by a time base 23, and indicated 24. By adjusting a variable capacitor Cv which is incorporated in said capacitance bridge 18, is obtained the AC voltage value eo=PK as the output of the amplifier 19a (where P is a proportional constant; and K is a factor which is proportional to the storage amount of the fuel, with 1 for full and 0 for empty). Thus, the storage amount in the tank can be accurately sensed by the value of the electrostatic capacitance by utilizing the intrinsic dielectric constant of the fuel.
